Grilled Leek Colcannon

Let's just say that I'm super-thankful I get to eat chocolate-banana protein smoothie with chocolate cereal for breakfast because I'm an adult and I can make my own choices. I also saved a bunch of money on BLOG HOSTING! (I bet you thought I was going to say car insurance. Nope!)  I'm baaaaack with Blogger!  By transferring domain hosting and changing platforms, I'm back at the simpler space of Blogger.  Yes, this change broke every link and image in all almost 400 posts I've made since April 2011.  Yes, I just finished earlier this year finally  reposting all of the 2012-2013 posts with pictures, heavily edited, and now I have to do all that over again.  It's all worth it, for saving twenty times what the hosting and platform change costs me now.

French-Canadian Cheeze

Post III and final in the Cheeze Series As I walked to the Metro one day this week, I realized why I like short pants.  In a past life, I was a nineteenth-century boy who wore breeches.  Capris, cropped pants, pedal-pushers, Bermuda shorts, whatever you want to call them, I wear those and long socks.  Yep, though I haven’t yet undergone a past-life regression, I’m fairly certain I must’ve been a breeches-wearing boy in another lifetime; how else can I explain this affinity for capris?

Icing Tart and Cream Cheeze Woes

Last week, my mom made chocolate cream cheeze frosting for chocolate cupcakes for my super-sweet sixteen (graduation) party, and the frosting never set.  She used blue-label Tofutti Better than Cream Cheese, which contains partially hydrogenated oils, tastes chalky, and weeps in the fridge.

Hot Doggerel

My dad and I grilled supper yesterday and we had hot dogs with chili.  Before you even think for a second that my dad would eat tofu pups, just stop right there.  Dad had beef franks and I had tofu pups.  Actually, Lightlife’s Veggie Protein Links that I bought on Tuesday are GF, but the website  does not reflect this.  I'm looking at the package right now and I see no gluten, but always, always, always read labels, people!  Formulae change with the vicissitudes of food manufacturing.

Grilling in the Great Indoors

For the first time in a long time (OK, maybe four years), I had a holiday weekend where I could come back to work and say, ZOMG, I had an awesome holiday weekend! if anyone cared to ask.  Usually when you say you had a better-than-average one, people don’t want to listen (or they don't have time).
